Prince Charles and Camilla visit Oxford16th May 2017
Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, browsed shops in Oxford’s Covered Market this morning.
The pair were seen admiring the cakes in The Cake Shop and chatting to the staff.
Lucy, staff member of The Cake Shop, said the experience was “pretty amazing.” “They were asking what we were doing, how long we’d been working here. It really goes by in a blur. Surreal is definitely the word.”
After this, they moved on to have lunch in Brown’s Café.
Chris Allnutt, Masters student at Keble College, inadvertently crossed Charles’ path outside the butchers. He recalls that Charles shook his hand, and asked “Do you come here often, as an undergraduate?”
This afternoon Prince Charles will be opening the new building of the Centre for Islamic Studies.
