SCIENTISTS FROM THE Centre of Tropical Medicine were rewarded for their work on tropical diseases in an honours ceremony held at Buckingham Palace last Thursday. The medics received the Queen's Anniversary Prize 2000 for Higher and Further Education for their contribution to the understanding, prevention and treatment of killer diseases such as malaria, typhoid, Japanese encephalitis, dengue and diptheria, diseases that affect around 500 million people annually worldwide and are responsible for over 3 million deaths, mainly in developing countries....
