Raelian cloning debate
THE RAELIANS ARE coming to town. Glenn Carter, head of the British Raelian Movement, has confirmed his intention to attend a debate 'This House sees nothing wrong with full humancloning', organized by PPE Society on 19 February, alongside the Director of the Pro-Life Alliance.
The followers of the Raelian Movement believe humans are the DNA creation of a scientifically more advanced people. Their subsidiary, Clonaid, hit the headlines recently with the claim that they had successfully cloned human babies.
The Raelians are a religious group set up by French journalist 'Rael', who was asked by aliens to establish a Raelian Embassy on Earth on 13 December, 1973. The alien ambassador is described on the Raelian website as about four feet tall, with long dark hair, almond shaped eyes, and olive skin.
Hinesh Rajani, President for PPE Society, told The OxStu he is consulting the University Marshall regarding security arrangements for the debate. Rajani says he hopes the debate will he "controversial and heated", and hopes the debate will provide an opportunity for the audience to "find out the truth about the Raelians and debate about the ethics of cloning".
