Green Box
Mike Woodin, a Green City Councillor and a psychology lecturer at Balliol, has joined with the students and condemned the council over their Green Box recycling scheme.
All houses in Oxford are involved in this scheme and yet the students living in college accommodation or university buildings are still waiting for their on-site recycling facilities. The students have been promised numerous start dates, the first being in April last year. Luke Haywood, co-chairman of OUSU's Environment Committee, said he had been given false assurances about the starting date on at least five different occasions.
The Council's current executive member for waste, Mary Clarkson, will be questioned on this issue by Cllr. Woodin at the next city council meeting on 17 February, although she has declared that the council is working to set up the scheme for the student community as soon as possible.
