Sport: St. Mary's Crucified

ALTHOUGH ST MARY'S had stolen our gnome on our last meeting, it was hard to be excited about facing this team again. Their continuous foul play throughout the match reminded us why we hadn't been looking forward to it. The Blues, however, did well to rise above this behaviour and were the only side playing rugby. Our pack looked more organised with much more effective rucking than last week. The scrums, even when playing with only 7 forwards due to Miffi Taylor's ankle injury, were excellent. The backs were frustrated by an imposing St. Mary's back line and failed to score the points to reflect our domination of the match. The final score was 15-0....

Sport: Jesus Bashers

In a fiercely contested Pool match in the parks, Teddy Hall beat off a spirited Jesus side to secure their place in the Cupper's Semi-final. Hall started the game the better, storming into a 24-0 lead in the first 25 minutes. The architect of this rugby Blitzkrieg was Hall fullback Jono Venter, scoring three skilful tries gaining the League champions the early advantage. Deft use of his boot allowed Venter the opportunity to score and his lightening pace secured the points....

Sport: Close Call

St.Peter's were narrow victors in this close contest against Pembroke in Pool B of Cupper's. Despite taking the lead, Peters were unable to break away from an impressive Pembroke side led by the talismanic Blues' fly-half Ben Honeyben.

Sport: Sporting Thoughts

I often have nightmares where I am sat in a circle of people. Each stands and says their name and makes a confession. When it comes to my turn I slowly rise from my chair, pause for a moment and a bead of sweat will run down my forehead. Finally I will say: "My name is James and I am a netball player."
