Stroke is Broke
The President of Oxford University Boat Club, and likely stroke of the Blues boat, has been beaten up in a vicious attack outside Club Latino, leaving him with a battered hand and facial injuries.
Matt Smith, who has stroked the Oxford boat three times, scoring two Boat Race wins, told the OxStu that he was set upon by several townies after he tried to help a friend who was being picked on by the men.
Smith, also the youngest person ever to win the boat race, described the scuffle as "relatively small", but has been unable to train on the water for around two weeks. However he claims that his performance "hasn't really been affected by the incident".
However with the Boat Race now only five weeks away there are certain to be significant worries over Smith's fitness, and whether it will damage our chances of repeating last year's victory.
