CAC VP
Josefa Henry-Bochan has been elected OUSU Vice President for Charities and the Community.
She beat opponent Lotte Tregear, of Christ Church, by 998 votes to 742 in last Thursday's university-wide election. The turnout was higher than anticipated, with 1877 votes polled.
As Henry-Bochan is a Wadmite, Wadham now dominates next year's OUSU sabbaticals, holding three out of seven posts. "The election was carried out with the integrity one would expect from an OUSU election," Lotte told the OxStu, "and despite losing, I am glad I lost to such a capable opponent."
On the day of the election, a tribunal was brought by Lotte, who claimed Josefa's manifesto was misleading and her declarations were not obvious. The complaint was thrown out by the panel, who thought it was unfounded and frivolous. "I was worried my OUCA membership would have a negative impact on the result," Josefa told the OxStu, "but I only joined OUCA for a party."
