Emperors Crowned

Emperors Crowned

Student pranksters last term managed to "crown" every single one of the Emperors Heads, the name given to the 17 statues that adorn the pillars outside the Sheldonian Theatre.

The St. Catz first years, who wish to remain anonymous, denied that the stunt was merely a drunken, spur of the moment activity, but was in fact "highly co-ordinated." In a letter printed in this week's OxStu they recount their attempts to gather the required 17 traffic cones, and their subsequent encounters with Oxford police.

Any attempt to repeat the coronation will, however, be met with the sternest disciplinary action.

Dr Ian Archer, Junior Proctor of the University. told The OxStu that students engaging in this kind of activity would be in breach of University Statute XI, subsection 2.1(d), that no "member of the University shall, in a university context, intentionally or recklessly impair, deface, damage, or destroy any property of, or in thecustody of, the University."

Dr Archer also pointed out the dangers posed to students who choose to climb the pillars, especially when in an inebriated state.
