Sin-free Sex
Oxford University Press is publishing a re-evaluation of the seven deadly sins, part of a four year project aiming to determine whether the basic principle of the seven deadly sins still retains any relevance in the twenty-first century, writes Gemma Varley.
Seven writers have been commissioned to analyse the sins. Professor Simon Blackburn of Trinity College, Cambridge researched for three months before declaring that lust should be considered a virtue. Blackburn declared that sex is fun and should be "reclaimed for humanity".
Many scholars, however, do not agree with Blackburn, such as Oxford University's Reverend Thomas Weinandy, who believes that the seven deadly sins have stood the test of time well.
