DJ Attacked
Another Oxford student was viciously assaulted on Magdalen Bridge last Thursday as he returned home from DJ-ing at the Bar Baby on Cowley Road.
Marcus Dubois, a 23 year old student from Lincoln College, was approached on Magdalen Bridge at 11.30pm by a tramp with a dog. After being asked for a cigarette, Dubois apologised and continued walking, but the man, who seemed "tanked up", attacked him and tackled him to the ground. The man proceeded to punch and kick him, before walking away, only to return and jump on the student's chest. The attacker's female companion pleaded with him to stop.
Passing Keble students went over to help once the confrontation had ceased and called the police. They arrested the man on Cowley Road, who was wanted on several other charges. Dubois was treated for a broken rib and some severe bruising, but is said to be recovering well.
The event follows last week's mugging of a James Hunter from the European School of Management, which culminated in his being thrown from the bridge.
Dubois warns other students to "be aware that some people do have a lot of antagonism towards them" and advises people not to walk home alone at night. He told The OxStu: "The area in the middle of Oxford is not exactly Disneyland".
