Oxford has been ranked eighth, just bettered by Cambridge, in a recent urban elite survey conducted by Experian Business Strategies into urban living examining the lifestyles, views and trends of communities across the UK, writes Michaela Wood.
The city of dreaming spires was recognised for its abundance of "University Challenge" and "town-gown transition" types. London, however, dominates the list, with its south borough of Wandsworth topping the chart by containing large proportions of the "chattering classes" - identified by the survey as diverse and fashionable groups of professionals with a taste for current trends.
