With the Varsity Match less than 5 weeks away Oxford stormed to victory over Milton Keynes Jesters despite the absence of starting netminder Dave Watt. Still in form after a successful tour of the French Alps over Christmas the Blues came out hard in the first period and notched their first score within the 30 seconds, deBeer the scorer. Milton Keynes rarely threatened as Oxford continued to put on the pressure and the period ended 6-0 to Oxford with 6 different scorers, Aggarwal, Salisbury, Smith, Purra, Chrisman and deBeer. It was a whole 3 minutes before Oxford managed to get another goal in the second period to leave the score at 7-1. As the Blues began to slow down and relax on the lead Milton Keynes were able to get a goal on the board after a lapse in the Oxford backcheck. Oxford strived to increase the pace again but with Milton Keynes showing little fight and dumping the puck at every turnover the scoring remained slow the period ending 9-2. Now with Chloupek and Holt on the scorers list and another for deBeer With just 20 minutes left the Blues stamped their authority on the third period netting 6 more goals. Milton Keynes managed one more goal but playing were no match for the Blues, now coasting home. The match ended 15-3. Man of the Match honours went to assistant captain Sam Salisbury with a hat trick and top scorer was Jeremy deBeer with 4 goals closely followed by Patrick Chrisman with another hat trick. Special thanks to stand in netminder Zoso Davies for stepping in at late notice. The Blues will face a much tougher test next Sunday when they play the Town vs. Gown match. Face off at 6:30pm.
