When I was Music Editor of this fascist popsicle stand, we received an album by 3 Doors Down. I slated it and they got very upset; apparently there was an angry phone call to the office asking for me. I wasn't there. But I'm here now with this new single. It's from the same album, and it's shit. Last time I called 3DD "even duller than Staind in a bad mood", and given that it's the same song, oddly enough it's still awful. In fact, it's worse than Staind. Fuck off with your corporate rock. You're as terrible as you were last time. E-mail me if you'd like me to clog your website with spam, you bunch of fucking twats. 'I'm A Cuckoo' is just what the world needs. Another retro 70s song. The chorus of 'I'm a Cuckoo' comes complete with oh-so-hip trumpets, Beach Boy harmonies and that wonderful instrument the tin whistle. Today's letter, children, is F for 'fucking annoying'. It is the type of song you may tolerate for novelty value, but that is it, the type of song which makes you think 'damn it, what hell does that remind me of?', and then you realise that Belle and Sebastian have nicked the theme tune from Rainbow. Another Day, another 'great British hope' tries to rescue this green and pleasant land from relative R'n'B obscurity. 'Another Day', another annoying twat from 'Fame Academy' tries to pretend to have artistic depth. 'Another Day', another chauffeur-driven exec decides to pimp out the credibility of black music to make another dollar. However, it is surprising just how calculated this record is. It is just guaranteed to be a hit. BM
