Lacrosse is sexy - or so the Cambridge women's blues would have us believe, after stripping off for a poster to advertise this Saturday's Varsity match.
Chip McLure, team captain, has expressed surprise at the interest generated: "We certainly weren't expecting national press coverage," she said.
She was keen to clarify that the girls, who were actually wearing hotpants in the photograph, are "regarded with a high degree of respect" among the Cambridge sporting community.
"I hope you will appreciate that we are first and foremost committed lacrosse players of the highest standard," she told The OxStu.
Ruth Evans, Captain of the Oxford blues, commented: "It has got a lot of people talking about the match, so good on them for the ones that did."
Oxford's male and lesbian fans may be disappointed to learn that that the home team has no plans to appropriate their rival's tactics. Evans told The OxStu: "We're enough of a distraction with our clothes on."
