Boat Club Blues

By Anjool Malde

Oxford's hopes of success in the 150th Varsity Boat Race have been dealt a blow with the news that President Sam McLennan will not be part of the crew.

McLennan, a 24-year-old Australian at Corpus Christi, announced the team line-up on Monday but failed to name himself, having suffered a stress fracture in his back.

Part of last year's crew who brought Oxford victory, he now hopes to row in the reserve crew, Isis. It is the first time an Oxford president has failed to make the Blue Boat for seven years.

Four of last year's crew will row again this year, including Pembroke Theologian Basil Cox, a former Great Britain medal winner.
