Match me if you can

Antoinette sees her most favourable attribute as her enthusiasm; a necessary quality to possess with the numerous ways she spends her time! From singing and dancing to socialising and visiting the Union, she's a busy girl..Her friends would like to see her swept off her feet, and she'd like this to be done by a guy who has a lot to say for himself, preferably with a Scottish accent!

Match me if you can

Political Dave claims himself to be a "general JCR whore", although at the higher end of politics he's slightly less assured: he drunkenly told Tony Blair that "We're all Downing Street virgins" when he was asked if he'd visited the area before! He rather enjoys bitter and when he's not hacking or slacking you're likely to find him in the pub with his friends.

Match me if you can

This week, we took Match Me If You Can to new territory: the ice rink. Inspired by Antoinette's suggestion that it may factor in her ideal date and excited by the dreadful metaphors I could use in writing about it, I could only live in hope that it'd prove to be a wise idea. Although reporting on an outing to A&E would make for an interesting column, I couldn't quite see love blossoming in the waiting room of the John Radcliffe.

Having matched Dave and Antoinette with a bit of help from my lovely friends, my only problem was arranging the date. With tricky timing and the fact that all the managers of restaurants in Oxford appeared to be absent, co-ordinating proceedings proved to be difficult and I ended up meeting the pair outside the ice rink at a most un-date-like hour. To my delight, after some photos were taken they took to the ice very proficiently. Even more promising was the sight of some immediate hand-holding, although I could only speculate whether this was due to an immediate spark or a mutual desire to stay on their feet! Having gotten them safely onto the ice I made a swift exit, hoping that the only thing to be broken would be the metaphorical ice; as opposed to any limbs.

Dave on the date: Although Antoinette wasn't what I normally go for in terms of looks, I thought she looked nice all the same. I thought she was quite quiet to begin with, but we managed to get talking quite quickly, and didn't really stop. She made me laugh frequently! After the meal we went on to Thirst, which was the best part of the date. Afterwards I walked her to Hertford, where we exchanged phone numbers, said goodnight, gave her a little kiss and walked back to Lincoln. Overall Nette was good company for the evening, and a really nice person, though I don't think there was any real chemistry there.

Antoinette on the date: My first thoughts were that Dave was well dressed and had a nice smile, although he did seem a little bit shy at first. He looked smart and good looking but not usually the type I tend to go for. I also thought that he had a good personality, I found him really easy to talk to. The ice skating was really fun and we were very impressed that we didn't fall over once! Dave was a real gentleman and took my hand straight away so I didn't fall. At the restaurant he taught me to make aromatic duck wraps! We left it exchanging numbers with a hug, and we might see each other again but just as friends, there wasn't any kind of spark there.
