Get your coat
Pembroke student, Richard Joyce, was last week left red in the face at Jongleurs following an altercation with door staff over a coat, in which he claims he was treated like "scum". Joyce was ejected from the premises after a mix-up that left him one coat short of a complete set.
Joyce told The Oxford Student that he was taking action to "ensure fellow students are not faced with similarly heavy handed self-righteous bouncers with some kind of personal agenda to fulfil.
Powerless Union
The Oxford Union was forced to close its buildings at Frewin Court yesterday after a power failure on St Michael's Street. Members were forced to endure long queues for ball tickets although the society was able to host Sir Roger Bannister yesterday evening.
Better treatment
A Wadham finalist discovered hand-written notes from an eminent scholar lodged inside a library book that had not been requested since 1926.
Dan Burton discovered the notes lodged in the pages of Deuteronomy in a Coptic version of the Bible from the Sackler Library.
Burton' tutor discovered that they belonged to William Crumb who, it appeared, had been using the book to form part of his Coptic Lexicon which is the only one of its kind in the world.
Greener Buses
Oxford scientists have developed a fuel additive that could make the air in our cities cleaner and reduce fuel costs in the public transport sector.
The product, known as Envirox and developed by the University's spin-off company Oxonica, is soon to be in use by the entire UK based bus fleet of the Stagecoach group.
Vanishing Cats
Residents of South-East Oxford are living in fear for the lives of their pets after a series of sinister disappearances over Christmas.
14 cat owners are in the dark over their pets' whereabouts including Melissa Lanighan, 16, who accused gypsies of stealing her cat Oliver, "to roughen up their dogs."
