Comment: Who needs emancipation anyway?

I grant that it’s not an encouraging sign of the times, but it is hard to get too worked up over the fact that an Oxford undergraduate has chosen to enter the annual Miss England competition. Thankfully the event is now nowhere near the epicentre of popular culture, if indeed it ever was.
