BEAUTY AND THE FEAST
Pip Stewart
Pip Stewart, the first ever Oxford undergraduate to reach the Miss England competition finals, will once more be contending for the title, writes Anna Stewart. The third year Modern History and Politics student from Queen’s came fourth last year, losing to Hammasa Kohistani. However, this year she has the opportunity to compete in the finals once more after being awarded the title of ‘Miss Personality’ by her fellow contestants.
“We all got to put a vote forward for the Miss Personality title last year. I think they liked the way I didn’t really give a damn,” she said. Despite being dubbed ‘Beauty and the Feast’ in a recent Miss England press release, Stewart defended the competition. “It’s actually a lot less about looks than you might think, there’s no swimwear competition or anything like that,” she said. “Entering a national beauty contest is not just about the winning...
It’s just the whole experience; I’m going to turn up and have a good time.”.
