Exeter University students taking part in a television documentary were filmed discovering a rats nest under the floor boards of their kitchen. The nest which contained around one hundred rats which had been feeding on food scraps. The University's Domestic Service was keen to distance itself from the privately rented house insisting that the University's own accommodation has very good hygiene and are free from vermin.
The Law Department at Bristol University has been shaken by allegations that one of its tutors, Loraine Divine, helped her students to cheat in a first year exam. It has been aledged that Divine's tutor group were given overly specific information of the content of the exam which was on any three of twelve topics. Students it seems have been eager to defend Divine however the head of department, Professor david Clarke, has instigated an investigation and reported the matter to the University registrar.
In a week which has seen two attacks in Oxford; Newcastle music student, Ben Frost was stabbed though the heart as he walked home. After the stabbing he managed to crawl back to his house where his flat mates found him in a pool of blood. He is now in a stable condition in hospital after emergency surgery.
