A student has been attacked whilst dancing at the Queen's College bop. Shezan Hirjee was punched twice in the face in Fitzpatrick Hall. Police and ambulances arrived, and he was taken to Addenbrooke's hospital, but was discharged soon after with no serious injury. The attacker has not yet been identified, and it is not known whether or not he was a student, due to failure of the bouncers to inspect CUSU cards at the bop entrance.
Two student nurses from Finland were forced to spend a week sightseeing in Cambridge, when they arrived at their placements to find there were no available nurses' uniforms. Jarkko Makinen and Anna Haveng are studying at Homerton College as part of the ERASMUS exchange scheme. A spokeswoman for the Addenbrookes Hospital blamed the delay with provision of uniforms, on the late decision of the two students to take up the placement.
Builders at Newnham College, where feminist writer Germain Greer tutors, seem determined to reinforce their own male stereotype. A worker was found wandering around an occupied shower room while many have women complained of receiving unwanted attention though windows overlooking the building site in the college grounds. A solution has been found though; girls have been asked to close their curtains and the builders have been banned from halls.
