The Spying Game

The latest Bond film has seen the world of cloak and dagger step back into the limelight, just when we thought the Cold War was consigned to history. But then again, for Oxbridge the spying game has never really gone away. Bond himself has had many Oxbridge links, as his liaisons with a college tutor at the start of Tomorrow Never Dies showed. Millennium, what Millennium? Oxford students don't seem to have extravagant plans to end a 2000 year time cycle in a reckless burst of hedonism. The general view amongst students is that the Millennium is just an exclusive occasion for the rich and famous. Louisa Brown (St. Hugh's) summed up the general mood, 'None of us can afford to go out on New Year's Eve - just catching a taxi back is going to cost a fortune. His somewhat graying mug is, unfortunately, splashed across most of the game, but apart from this minor annoyance there is a very enjoyable game under the hood....

Not only does the poor man have to cope with more ridiculous fantasy names than a Transylvanian Tolkein convention but - hot damn! - his daughter has been kidnapped....
