ITS OFFICIAL - Oxford Doesn't Ming
OXFORD HAS ONE of the best looking student populations in the country. That's the conclusion reached by the Red Mole Alternative University Rankings, voted for by over 13,000 students.
In the "attractiveness of females" category, Oxford's girls came 9th out of more than 100 universities. The males didn't fare quite as well, coming in at 26th place, but still finishing comfortably in the top quarter of the table.
But the real victory comes in the form of a crushing defeat for Cambridge. In both categories, the Tabs found themselves languishing in the bottom half of the table at around 60th place. This means that Oxford is now able to claim the much-coveted accolade of being better looking than our East Anglian counterparts.
And the "quality of nightlife" category bore further revelations. Despite being by no means the most exciting city in Britain, Oxford can take comfort from the fact that our social scene was ranked considerably higher than Cambridge's. In fact, the survey shows the Tabs to be trailing the London School of Dentistry in this area.
So, no matter what you might think of Park End and 'Filth' Avenue, it could be a great deal worse.
Oxford may have won the battle of the sexies with Cambridge, but we still have quite a way to go to catch up with the chart-toppers. Dundee, Lancaster and Loughborough have all taken Top 5 slots in both the male and female categories.
Meanwhile the same survey revealed Oxford to have the best quality of student newspaper. No surprise there then.
