Uni-que Record
AN OXFORD STUDENT has unicycled into the record books with an epic journey from Lands End to John O' Groats.
Rob Ambrose from St. John's completed the 911 mile journey in 12 days, 1 hour and 59 minutes, breaking a 14 year old world record. He also raised £4,558 for the children's charity Hope.
Rob was accompanied on the journey by a dedicated support team consisting of Jay Farley, Paul Kaddoch, Steve Maddox & Gav Helyar, who are all experienced unicyclists themselves.
But the ride was also a high-tech one, as supporters were able to follow Rob's progress via a specially set-up internet site, www.followthetrip.com. The team uploaded daily reports to the site describing the day's events.
In his final diary entry, Rob said: "As exciting as breaking the record is for me, the main reason for all of this was to raise the money needed for 500 kids to get an education - something which all of us who've had one take for granted."
