The Gentle Waves Falling From Grace (EP)

By Unknown Author

Cello, violin, harpsichord. No, it's not Rick Wakeman's latest rock opera, but a pastel coloured project from Isobel Campbell, otherwise known as part of Belle and Sebastian. She has one of those fragile voices which you either think of as delicately beautiful or thin and annoying, depending on your mood.

It comes off best on 'Going Home' where she reminds me of a more wispy version of Lou Rhodes from Lamb. Other than that, the most interesting thing on the EP is the sort of 'acoustic trip hop' groove on 'October Skies'. Pleasant, but, though there's a forthcoming album, I don't think I could eat a whole one.
