LMH Ron

LMH Ron

LAST WEEK ANOTHER JCR candidate was ronned, this time at LMH. Mark Shepherd, a second year law student, ran unopposed for the position of Vice-President in the JCR elections on Thursday. Four positions fell vacant in the election, each with one candidate running unopposed, although the other three positions were claimed by members of the first year. The result comes shortly after Hertford student Stephen Farrow's defeat by RON.

Following Mark Shepherd's campaign, four other candidates have come forward for the position of Vice President, promising more lively competition. The previous lack of competition prompted one student to remark that the limited choice was not constructive for the future of the LMH JCR. With only one candidate to choose from, any vote is hardly a good representation of the student voice. The vote for RON indicates the general desire of the student body for more choice.

When questioned about the result, Mark Shepherd expressed his disappointment, and remarked: "it is possible that by standing for JCR Treasurer in a bi-election earlier this term, I gave the impression that I was not committed to the job of vice-president."
