IT SEEMS OXFORD'S ladies are just dying to become 'woman of the month'. Hot on the heels of the Oxford Uncovered glamour calendar - unveiled earlier this term - comes a slick product from Oxford University Women's Rugby Club (OUWRFC).
Captain Mary Clay explained that the calendar was the result of a light-hearted fund-raising idea, after the squad lost its sponsor. "It's just girls doing it for fun," she told the Oxford Student, adding that it is "not really a glamour calendar - just tongue in cheek fun."
Clay admits that "it's the kind of thing that's been done before," but thinks it will be unique in "helping dispel some of the myths" that women rugby players are all "ugly and bearded".
Not all of the squad posed for the calendar, but there was a good response when they were asked if they would like to appear.
And despite initial fears that the calendar might not go down well with the university authorities, Clay is happy to report that she has received a letter from the Proctors saying they are happy with it.
The calendars are on sale for £7, and can be purchased from OUWRFC.
