Oxford's new best friend
CHESNEY HAWKES IS to descend on Oxford once again. Following the success of his appearance at the Revolution Ball, Merton have signed the pop legend for their own celebrations. The Merton Ball, on Saturday of 7th week, will see the one and only Chesney play an hour long set, alongside a top DJ yet to be confirmed.
Chesney's fee has been kept under wraps, but the Ball Committee has confirmed that he will play 'that song': "Oh yes, we've made a special request" said a spokesperson. Chesney was reported to jump at the chance to play another ball, saying how much he loved playing to Oxford students in particular.
Hardcore Chesney fans can look forward to gigs at Teeside, Aston, Aberystwith, Brunel, Loughborough and four other universities in the next two months. Other attractions at Merton Ball include a huge ice rink, a beatles tribute band, a casino, and a fairground.
