BUSA results round-up

AS PREDICTED LAST week, it was a difficult week for most of the Blues teams as they had to take on the might of Loughborough University, and their renowned sporting prowess, writes Ben Steele.

All the teams acquitted themselves brilliantly, however, with the result that there were some magnificent performances and victories to set alongside some of the expected reversals.

The Blues footballers were unfortunate to go down 3-2 against 10 men, and the second team could not lift the spirits as they slumped to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Stoke.

In other matches against Loughborough, the Men's Blues Basketball team continued their fantastic start to the defence of their BUSA Halifax Championships title.

A comprehensive 109-81 victory meant that they retained their unbeaten start to the campaign, and it now looks as though only a truly exceptional team, or a lack of concentration, will deny them a repeat.

This was, unfortunately, the exception to the rule, however, as Loughborough came out on top in all the other events contested last week.

In other fixtures in the BUSA Halifax Championships, Oxford had a good deal more success.

Victories for the Men's Squash team and Women's Tennis team, were balanced out by a narrow defeat for the women's hockey, as they went down 3-2 to St Mary's.

After such a tough week, Oxford will be glad to see the back of Loughborough, and the Blues sides will be looking to get back to winning ways next week.
