Romantic New motion
Each member of New College JCR must now kiss on meeting each other, according to a bizarre motion passed at the last JCR Meeting of the term in the college.
The kissing, which will continue until the end of Hilary term, was clarified by the LGBT rep as including same sex interactions. Furthermore, it was agreed that the kissing should only be on first meeting, as it would otherwise disrupt the rest of the evening's meeting as well as countless tutorials.
The motion was proposed by the JCR Treasurer Chris Garman and President Catherine Finney, and is apparently a resurrection of an old motion brought by former JCR President Edward Llewelyn. - nicknamed 'Roddy'.
The motion also proposed that Chris Wray, Food and Housing Officer, should be nicknamed Roddy, after he was alleged to have "slipped Garman the tongue" at a recent social event.
Wray was in fact the only opposition to the motion, which passed easily in a meeting said to be 'full of the Christmas spirit'. However, one New College student did comment that she hadn't "seen any evidence of kissing yet".
