Dear Sir,

I must express my outrage, shock and disappointment at Mr Anatole Pang's paucity of Bacchanalian knowledge. His reference to "an explosive mix of power and a nice Italian claret" beggars belief. He's not going to get that to react however hard he tries. Indeed it took two astute, dignified and good-looking observers manning the Communist stand adjacent to Mr Pang's own OUCA installation at the recent OUSU Freshers' Fair to inform on this paradox and rectify this casual ignorance.

There is nothing inherently wrong in not knowing that 'Claret' is produced exclusively in Bordeaux. But, to my knowledge, there is not, nor has there ever been, an Italian claim to sovereignty over that region. But it is not this alcoholic and geographical clanger which is the source of my vitriol. Is this not the man who once claimed he didn't want "even more comprehensive school oiks running around and not knowing the difference between a sherry and a madeira" when discussing access to Oxford?

To assume a position of authority and then condescend to give a prejudiced opinion of others on the grounds of an ignorance also possessed by oneself is both a betrayal of trust and the ultimate transgression against the human condition.

Yours in amazement,

Michael Holden

Dear Sir,

I read the article by Natalie Toms on how she experienced the royal killings on the streets (Issue 5, Trinity 2002). She wrote on how people weren't so panicked during the killings. I would like to know where she was. She should have been down the actual streets and seen the way people actually reacted to it. We hold a very special place in our heart for our King and his deceased family and what she wrote is not entirely true.

I write for papers too but I still respect the feeling and emotions of people when I write about it. This article has offended me and all our peoeple who have written about this. This was not expected from such a website. Where did she get all these ideas? This article is not true and is entirely biased and exaggerated!

(In response to a short greeting)

Dear Sir,

Thank you so much for the mail.It was good to receive a mail from someone who's where I wished to do my studies some time ago. I was busy the past two months with my short film project. The pre production is almost over and I'll do the film in a month's time. I shall mail you the story and please let me know what's your opinion about the story.

Out here I am good. I live in Mumbai and so life's extremely tough out here.If you can mail me your postal address I shall send you a copy of my book titled 'Tessellated Pavements', it was published in 1999, by Panam Books.

How are you ? How's everyone out there ? How's the University ? Hope and pray that only the best should happen to you.

Love Joe Eshwar
