Brasenose intruder
Thames Valley police were called to Brasenose's Frewin accommodation at midday last Sunday when an intruder was spotted in the grounds. He obtained access due to the inefficiency of the security door.
The intruder was seen by two students prowling around the grounds and trying to get entry into various doors. He was in his late thirties and holding a walking stick. They immediately summoned the police.
The students tried to detain the man for as long as possible but he managed to leave before the police arrived. One of the students followed the man until the police located him. They arrested him and he was taken into custody for several hours.
A witness told the OxStu that the man had revealed that he had come in order to get some drugs. The police, however, are still investigating the case.
The sergeant in charge on Sunday reported that similar incidents had happened several times in Frewin over the past year. He advised Brasenose to increase the security of the grounds.
"Any member of the public can gain easy access through the security door by closely following a student with a FOB key." Brasenose is currently looking into both improving security in Frewin and heightening student awareness.
