Straw jumps

OUSU President Will Straw joined forty-three other intrepid bungee jumpers who risked life and limb last Saturday by bravely diving from a 180 foot crane attached only to a thin piece of elastic from a crane and all for the sake of charity.

The event, held at Hinksey Park, raised an extremely creditable £3,500 which will be spread amongst the oucrag charities, four local charities, three national and three international, which are annually nominated by Oxford students.

This year's causes include Terrence Higgins, the children's heart foundation, the Anthony Nolan trust & Ethiopiaid.

Spectators were impressed, although most seemed confident they would not be taking part. Local resident James Mildenhall claimed "you wouldn't catch me doing that but they're obviously very brave."

Upcoming Rag events include a hitch hike to Amsterdam next term and a firewalk (walking on hot coals) in trinity term. The society have also launched a weekly cocktail night at Thirst which different colleges will be hosting throughout the term.

Anyone interested in getting involved should contact RAG President Shruti Uppal on oucrag@herald.ox.ac.uk or by phone on 01865 274 625.
