Vomiting and vandalism
TEDDY HALL IS in the grip of an excessive bout of vandalism and vomiting. In the latest in a series of incidents of excessive drinking, the JCR was closed on the morning of Friday, October 26. This was authorized by the Dean at the request of the cleaning staff after someone was sick in the room on Thursday night. Although the person responsible came forward on Friday afternoon, and has since been subject to disciplinary procedures, the room remained closed over the weekend for cleaning. The college authorities had threatened to keep the room closed until November 5, but the admission of guilt on behalf of the unnamed person has resulted in its early opening.
The fact that the JCR was closed without prior consultation with any of the JCR officers was a particular point of contention. Ali Richardson, President of Teddy Hall JCR, stated that although the decision to close the room was understood, the manner in which it was carried out had resulted in anger amongst the student body.
A string of alcohol-related incidents this term has prompted the JCR President to write a letter of warning to all undergraduates. In this letter, he pleads for restraint and common sense amongst students, urging students to "calm the concept of getting so totally drunk and behave in a more mature manner."
