Clowning Around
A man who tormented his neighbours with a talking clown was convicted last week at Oxford magistrates court.
The dispute began 11 years ago when the neighbours of Keith Quartermain of Abingdon constructed a fence blocking his right of way. Since then Quartermain has put up 14ft signs in his garden describing his neighbours as 'The dwarf and the old dog'. Further hostility has since resulted in Quartermain rigging up a toy clown to stereo speakers to annoy the neighbours continually.
Mr Quartermain was last week convicted of harassment, and consequently given a 3 month suspended sentence, a 5 year restraining order and must pay a substantial sum in compensation. The police are believed to have confiscated the toy clown.
