A last-minute winner from Rob Frampton gave the Blues a dramatic 3-2 victory over Eastcote HC. In what was virtually the last act of the game, the Blues' Andy Armitage drove into the 'D', drawing a foul from the opposition defence. From the resulting short corner, Frampton let fly with a deflected drag flick to earn the acclaim of the Oxford supporters....


Sport: Luck of the Irish? Blues triumph

Oxford's first home win of the season wasn't exactly the champagne performance that everybody had hoped for against the in form Zurich Premiership side. The first half was a largely unbroken affair that stayed in the midfield, the only exceptions to this rule coming from a try apiece. The second half was better with play reaching into both sides' 22's, although it was (similarly to the first half) disjointed and inconsistent due to large numbers of injuries stopping the game. ...

From this match it is clearly apparent that Jesus are a good outside bet to challenge the likes of Wadham in the later stages of this year's competition. Pretty they may not have been, but effective it most certainly was. Two red cards late on in the game marred a battling display by both teams, Patel for Trinity and Knapp for Jesus; nevertheless, in a game which at times appeared to lack the presence of a referee, there were moments of skill that provided pure excitement....
