Balls-Up

By Anjool Malde

The Oxford University Law Society is at the centre of widespread criticism this week regarding a massive failure to publicise their Christmas ball.

LawSoc President Rupert Abbott stated that the event, to be held a week on Saturday, was advertised through the Freshers' Fair, the website and via email. However, many members claimed this week to have not received any information.

Tomas Furlong from Merton, said: "We all noticed the Ball when we signed up at Freshers' Fair. It's incredible that there was no way of letting us know about tickets. I've got one friend who even emailed about tickets but received no reply."

This week Membership Secretary Anna Rader issued all members a statement admitting that the failure was "unacceptable", blaming technical problems. Oliver Levy, the society's Publicity Officer, responded to one enquiry stating: "I am terribly sorry; unfortunately they went on sale last week under little publicity."

Rader assured members that the committee "will make sure future events are advertised more clearly", whilst Abbott told The OxStu: "I'm sure in most of our members' opinions, OULS is without doubt the best value for money society."
