Sabbatical expansion on the cards

By Matt Trueman

Plans are afoot to split the Student Union Vice President for Access and Academic Affairs sabbatical position into two separate roles, OUSU Council will be told tomorrow.

The move comes in the wake of suggestions by the University's Admissions Service that OUSU re-evaluate and even reduce its crop of sabbatical officers. The matter and its financial ramifications are sure to cause heated debate.

Current VP for Access and Academic Affairs, Linsey Cole, said: "With the success of Target Schools, which has been turning over 400 people away from each event, and the issue of top-up fees, an access-only sab would be a great asset to OUSU and the student body."
