Protesters take to the streets over Third World Debt
Also marching in Oxford's city centre on Saturday were campaigners for 'Jubilee 2000,' the campaign to cancel Third World Debt. Andrew Smith, MP for Oxford East, was presented with a petition in Broad Street.
Smith - who is at the forefront of parliamentary support for the campaign - said: "I have always felt part of the strong drive by Oxford people to relieve the suffering and tackle the causes of world poverty."
Smith drafted Labour's pledge to increase overseas aid and as Chief Secretary to the Treasury, he made an offer of money to Clare Short to help with the floods in Mozambique.
