Art-bus at the Oxford stop

By Unknown Author

THE WHEELS ON this bus are going round and round the country. Yesterday it saw the sights of Birmingham and tomorrow it heads for the big smoke.

The flourescent vehicle arrived in Gloucester Green on Tuesday, to the surprise of early-morning shoppers and milkmen. It houses the art work of six graduates from Oxfordshire College of Art and Design, part of De Montford University. The group are using the bus as an innovative way of exhibiting their art work throughout the country.

Influential graphic designers are being invited to hop on to the moving art gallery in the lads' attempt to wheedle their way into a job.

But it is a whistle-stop tour- the lads do not have time to soak up Oxford's delights in the Museum of Modern Art. Indeed, the wannabe-Warhols had hoped to camp at Goucester Green for the evening but were turfed out by Oxford City Council who were attempting to erect wooden tables adorned with bric-a-brac in preparation for Wednesday morning's market.

So the glowing bus hit the M4 at twilight and trundled off to London where it will decorate the streets of Islington - the painfully-cool mecca of graphic designers.
