If you haven't seen the posters plastered around Oxford featuring Che Guevara, where have you been? Unfortunately these posters proclaiming that there will be a revolution in Oxford during 9th week do not mean that Guevara will be resurrected from his resting place to lead a revolt of students protesting against the injustice of Mods/Prelims/Finals (delete where applicable). Instead the Oxford Revolution is a ball to be held on Saturday June 23rd celebrating ten years of the Oxford Access Scheme. With a musical line-up of DJ Spoony, DJ Fabio, DJ Grooverider, Atomic Kitten (for the boys presumably), Misnomer, Lonyo, DJ Adam H, DJ Fourtet, Cherise, Blunt Instruments and the promising mystery main act -to be announced- one cannot help but be impressed. As St Hugh's College prepares to be engulfed by revolutionaries and transformed into 14-acres of the French, Cuban, Russian and Chinese revolutions for an event which will last beyond the usual 3am, it has to be asked why this event is seeking such magnitude?...

I stumble into an exhibition entitled 'Sex, Souls and Saviours', (not wishing to lower the hushed, appreciative, tone), lurch on to a tutorial, and collapse to write this article, having spent the night immersed in the arduous process of....no, not sex, although that would have been appropriate, I suppose, but writing an essay on Baudelaire's perception of modernity in his art criticism. Indeed. What, I wonder, would the great, (highly-sexed and misogynistic) man have made of this, which I had presumed would be an effective encapsulation of our modernity?
