Coursework confusion
IT SEEMED THAT the proctors were pursuing a tough new line last week, threatening fines and other punitive measures to a student thought guilty of handing her work in late.
Magdalen finalist Alison Wood-Kaczmar was accused of handing her coursework in late, and threatened with a hefty fine, despite the fact that she had completed and submitted the finished work on the required date. The proctors later realised their mistake.
Wood-Kaczmar admitted to being "pretty annoyed" at being falsely accused, especially at such a stressful time. Although the proctors have apologised for the mix up, she points out that the incident was indicative of "how ludicrous the current outdated and inefficient system is" adding that she thought that the proctors seem "out of touch with the realities of student welfare and discipline."
The proctors were unavailable for comment.
