Come on you Reds!

JCR Presidents from eleven colleges suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Labour Club last Saturday. For once, however, the conflict took place not in OUSU Council, but on the football pitch.

The two groups, believed by many to dominate Oxford student politics, clashed at Oriel sports ground after New College President Will Straw challenged Labour Club Campaigns Officer Pedro Wrobel with the promise that his colleagues would 'dick on' Wrobel's comrades. In the end, however, it was the other way round, with the Labour Club scoring six goals to the Presidents' five.

With hindsight, the result was not surprising. The Labour Club side included such talented players as ex-Pembroke JCR President John Steward, OUSU Executive Officer Heenal Rajani and ex-Finance and Funding Co-Chair and failed OUSU Presidential candidate Sacha Ismail. Presidential players such as Straw and Ian Mulheirn of Somerville looked the part, but failed to match the skill displayed by their opponents.

Straw is said to be furious at being beaten by socialists, and has demanded a rematch for sometime in sixth week.
