LMH break-in

By Rose Hasler

On Friday night first year Lawyer, Douglas Johnson helped the police to apprehend a known criminal who had been caught wandering the corridors at LMH.

Johnson was walking back to his room on Friday night at about 6 pm when he saw the suspicious looking character in the corridor. The man walked into one of the toilets after seeing Johnson, and locked the door. Johnson then rang the Porter's lodge and alerted them. He met one of the porters and they went together and looked around the college.

The two then saw a police car, which was on the premises for an unrelated reason. Johnson gave a description of the man and then together with the police drove around in an attempt to find him. They eventually found him and the man was taken into custody.

Johnson was modest about his heroics commenting at the time he "wasn't really frightened". LMH JCR President Tejpal Dhami praised Johnson for his bravery and quick thinking. When asked if she believed LMH had a security problem, she added: "This was a one-off incident that proves JCR members are vigilant and know how to act in the event of crime."
