A US entrepreneur is hoping to strike liquid gold by selling his urine over the internet. Kenneth Curtis, says he started selling urine sample kits on his website after he grew tired of drugs testing at work. Despite the prospect of a £10,000 and prison sentence Mr Curtis remained unrepentant "If you can't sell urine, what can you sell? I don't sell drugs, I sell urine."

A man has burned his bottom after sitting on the Arc de Triomphe's eternal flame in a bid to put it out. The unnamed man was quickly removed from the Paris landmark which commemorates the French who died in World War One. His injuries are not reported to be serious. The flame has been burning since 1921 over a grave containing the unidentified remains of a French soldier who died in the war.

The first European mosquito catching competition will take place this summer in Italy. Competitors will work in pairs and the duo who catch and kill the most mosquitoes with their bare hands will win. The winners will receive five donkeys, five pigs and five chickens. The International Anti-Mosquito Federation said hundreds of people had signed up for the event in Robbio. Competitors must wear swimming costumes, tights, a mask and a hat.

A man allegedly fitted an extension to his neighbour's phone then ran up a bill the equivalent of £67,000 after falling asleep while calling a sex line in the Caribbean. The scam came to light when the neighbour received a £67,000 bill and the telephone company investigated. The phone company said numerous calls had been made to sex lines, the worst being when the caller listened for a while then fell asleep for 11 hours.
