J-Sex
Oxford Jewish Society is causing controversy with their plans for a forthcoming 'Sex Weekend'. The events of the 26th and 27th April will be given over to the theme, which includes a guest speaker on 'Sex in the Jewish Position' and an Ann Summers night for the girls.
Jewish society Co-President Daniel Cowen recognises that it is an unorthodox move for a religious society, but claims that "we need to spice up J-Soc. It will inevitably cause some upsets, but we need to appeal to a wider audience and prove that we are not just about chicken soup and praying".
However, this is not an outlook shared by all of the members of this prestigious society. Ex-President and long-standing member of OUJS, Saul Doctor is outraged by the move: "Judaism is not interested in promoting sex in public and if I wanted sex education I would buy a porno. Such pandering to the mantra that 'sex sells' is not broad-minded, it is degrading".
