On Saturday 18th May, Iffley Road played host to Cambridge University for the 128th Athletics Varsity Match. Both the Oxford Blues teams had something to prove. Having been beaten only twice in the last ten Varsity Matches, Oxford's men were keen to continue their domination, while the women, having won only twice in the same period, were keen to prove that this team was the strongest for many years. ...

The mixed hockey cuppers tournament concluded on Sunday afternoon in a match between Brasenose and Jesus colleges. BNC, having narrowly qualified for the final in a 1-1 draw against Wadham-Corpus Christi in the morning's semi-final games (decided ultimately on penalty flicks), showed consistent and effective passing and teamwork throughout the game that in the second half allowed them to storm to victory over an exhausted Jesus squad....

What should have been an entertaining and enjoyable few days in front of the telly for England's Test Match against Sri Lanka was marred, for me, by the diabolical umpiring performance of one Daryl Harper. I felt cheated, having given up five days of my life to enjoy a great sporting occasion, only for the result to be decided by the random incompetence of the protean official....

Sport: Cricket's rising star

"During my gap year I was contracted for the full year, so I played a whole year professionally. Last summer I went back as soon as university cricket finished. It turned out that I drove straight from the last day of the varsity match to join the squad so that was pretty instantaneous. This year I don't know."
