Utterly divine Deputy News Editor Roberto Montanari is the undisputed star of Newshound this week, after winning the JCR Presidential election in that most revolutionary of colleges, the mighty Somerville. Having beaten off luminaries such as, er, P Duncan Weldon, Esq, our darling Rob now has the pleasure of associating with Josh Kern (Inconsequential), Damian Jenkins (St Poo's), and of course the charming Mr Alistair Richardson (Multiple Health Hazard Hall) on an all-too-regular basis. On being informed of this momentous news at President's Drinks by the unmistakable Bance, Newshound shrieked uncontrollably for an hour - much like the providers of the evening's musical entertainment. This august occasion descended into the sort of shameful karaoke bawling normally only seen in Bar Med, as Karen (Carpenter) Price, Kat (Stevens) Wheatley and Olivia (Newton-John) Jackson performed a brilliantly cheesy Chesney Hawkes number to enthralled Deputy Editor Rodrigo Davies, Chezza's number one fan. Top-level entertainment elsewhere this week saw a Cherwell-OxStu love-in at Balliol bar, where the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Adam Brown enlisted the 'charms' of Editor Ria Hopkinson to act as a veritable Debbie McGee to his Paul Daniels. Perhaps justifiably, Cherwell News Goddess Julia Buckley was less than impressed. Nonetheless, Newshound must run, as the nationals have been ringing the phone off the hook this week. Ah, so popular with the press...And finally, Newshound received an intriguing internet link this week (http://www.angelfire.com/empire/mertonaretwats/gamsa.html). Notorious Captain of Merton College Cricket Club and Cherwell correspondent Adam Gamsa has been earning rather a reputation for himself. A bad one. The evidence of the gurner himself is ready and waiting on the site...
