From the darkened, sodden rugby pitch to the sun-drenched cricket square, this has been a year of virtually unrivalled success for Oxford's sportsmen and women. Along with the highs there were of course lows but looking at the overall picture, the university sports scene can surely never have been in better shape....

I never miss an opportunity to play basketball. Playing with the St. Anne's team has been one of the great highlights of this term; so the fact that I can remember next to nothing about what happened in our Cuppers game last week strikes me as odd. We played Linacre, and lost 48 to 26. Maybe my unconscious mind has intentionally blocked the details from my memory for that reason; but I enjoyed the game so I really wouldn't mind remembering. It was generally all very decent; both teams moved well, passed well, worked together and respected the rules well, so that strategy and skill actually made a difference. ...

For the second time in three years, Queen's won Table Tennis Cuppers, in a match of tension and quality against Exeter. The reigning champions, with two Blues players in their team, Exeter were the top seeds and favourites to repeat their triumph, but once again Queen's strength in depth stood them in good stead....

A Swedish radio station ran a campaign to have Sven Goran Eriksson accused of treason for managing England in a World Cup game against Sweden; on Sunday's performance it would seem that Eriksson was guilty of the opposite. Firstly, what on earth was Danny Mills doing in the squad, let alone on the pitch, why was Heskey on the left of midfield and why did Seaman not save Alexandersson's shot?...
