Chaplain "Pinched Peoples' Asses"
It has emerged that the Worcester chaplain who was dismissed at the end of last term was in fact sacked for drunkenness at a wake.
Revd Dr Jonathan Knight, who had been at Worcester for less than a year, had his contract terminated because he was drunk and made rude comments to guests at a wake held in Worcester last term, leading to a number of complaints.
Reports say that Knight was suspended immediately after the incident in sixth week and fired at the end of the term. Despite an appeal by the fallen vicar, the decision was upheld following an investigation by the Chapel Committee.
One Worcester student told the OxStu: "We're very pleased he's gone. He was a constant embarrassment. He used to get very drunk in the college bar and act lecherously. It was quite disturbing coming from a man of God."
It is believed that Knight received a warning from the college in Michaelmas term following complaints from students about his behaviour.
The Provost of Worcester was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
